Afro-Queer Open Mic

Created by Madpoetix Productions in collaboration with Fondation Massimadi and DESTA Black Community Network. This is a dedicated space for Black & BIPOC queer voices to speak, be heard, and express themselves through the rawest form of art. Come forward, support, and celebrate a beautiful community and its purest expression – AFROQUEER!
Anton May is a British born; multidisciplinary artist based in Tiohtiá:ke (colonially known as Montreal). They are an honours graduate from Dawson College’s Professional Theatre Program and alumnae/Mentor of BTW Artist Mentorship Program. He has had the privilege to perform across Canada as well as in New York as a singer and actor. Most recently, their play A Boy’s Love: A Journey of Healing through Poetry and Dance was presented through Queer Reading Series (2025). He had his directorial debut at this years Montreal Fringe Festival with Painting Moments- A Portrait of an Artist as a young Gay Man.
